Who Is Our "Competition"

We Have Seen The "Enemy"..... As I have gotten older, it is amazing to me how keenly I have become aware of just how much of an “enemy” we can be to ourselves.
It is so incredibly easy for all of us to look at our situations of crisis and chaos, and find the ability to blame others for being where we are. I understand fully that sometimes we are delayed, detoured and even destroyed by forces beyond our own influence…but that is only a small part of our story.
We know, almost without exception, what is the right thing to do.
But far too often, we choose a path that WE KNOW INSTINCTIVELY is wrong….but we take it anyway.
Why?
Because (we have told ourselves that) the path of character, principles, ethics and honor is too hard.
We are averse to pain; so therefore, in our false assumption that one way is “easier” than the other, we essentially sabotage our own visions of grandeur. We could have greatness if we’d only have the strength to walk the path that is narrow and rocky.
Of course that narrow, rocky and challenging path is made so much easier….
….if we would just let decency and common sense light our very way.
For in the final analysis, we ALWAYS have the power to make the “right” choice.
